Compliance Bulletin

Dear Valued Partner,

March marks a shift in pace for many organizations. As operations ramp up and planning for the months ahead takes shape, it’s a smart time to revisit the details that keep your hazardous materials program running smoothly. In this edition, we’re focusing on key regulatory developments, practical compliance considerations, and insights that can help you strengthen procedures before the busy season is fully underway.

🔍 This Month's Spotlights:

  • Addendum Coming Soon: Power Banks outlines proposed ICAO amendments that would limit passengers to two power banks, require carry-on transport, and prohibit in-flight charging. The update highlights key operational and compliance implications as the industry prepares for possible 2026 changes.
  • Shipping Methanol by Air explains how UN 1230 Methanol is regulated under IATA and when shipments qualify as excepted, limited, or fully regulated. It also reviews key labeling, documentation, and packaging requirements for passenger and cargo aircraft.
  • PHMSA Seeking Comments on Spacecraft Components highlights HM-267, an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking industry feedback on hazardous materials used in spacecraft payloads and components. Comments are open until April 29, 2026.
  • The Risk of Improper HazMat Container Disposal explains how residue in “empty” hazardous materials containers can still pose safety and compliance risks. It also highlights the role of SDS Section 13 and best practices for proper workplace disposal.

Compliance is not seasonal, but the way we approach it can be. As you prepare for a productive spring, take the opportunity to review policies, confirm training is current, and address any gaps before they become issues. If you need support along the way, ICC is here with guidance, resources, and solutions tailored to your operation. We’ll reconnect next month with more updates to keep you informed.
